THE CHAMP CHAMP
JOSE "SHORTY" TORRES IS NOT ONLY A MULTIPLE TIME WORLD CHAMP, BUT HE IS ALSO A TWO DIVISION WORLD CHAMP. HE IS THE CHAMP CHAMP!
THESE ARE SOME OF HIS CAREER STATISTICS.
Jose SHORTY Torres may be known for his height, but what the 5’4” Mexican-Puerto Rican from Chicago lacks in height shines through in heart and motivation. Shorty has taken part in both team and single-person sports most of his life. He is most passionate and experienced in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). His journey began at the early age of 4 when he enrolled in Shotokan Karate. After 12 years of training, Shorty slowly transitioned into MMA. At the age of 16, he was perfecting his skills at Combat-Do with the legendary hall of fame Judo and Jiu-Jitsu trainer, Master Bob Schirmer, who taught Shorty the arts of Judo, Jiu-Jitsu, Jeet-Kune-Do, Boxing, Kickboxing, Pankration, San Shou, Muay Thai, K1, and Wrestling.
Currently, Shorty is a brown belt rank in the Combat-Do (Judo/Jiu-Jitsu) training system. He is a recent graduate of McKendree University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Leadership and Sports and Exercise Science. Shorty received a full ride to the NCAA Division II school through wrestling and academic achievements. His amateur MMA record was 25-1 with 25 straight wins and he has been pronounced the most decorated amateur MMA fighter in the world by many organizations. His list of accomplishments from local, national, amateur, and professional world titles continues to grow.
Shorty will fight in the Brave CF semi finals against Ali “Puncher King” Bagautinov November 6th in Russia! The fight can be watched live and free online at BraveCFTV.com (it should be early afternoon because of the time change). If he wins, he advances to the championships early next year for a chance to become the inaugural Brave CF flyweight champion.
